DAVID RUDKO

PhD, Lab Director

David is an Assistant Professor of Neurology/Neurosurgery and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University. He is also the Director of the 7T Pre-Clinical MRI Unit of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre.

KEVIN LIU

Postdoctoral Fellow

Kevin is a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurology/Neurosurgery at McGill. His research uses deep convolutional neural networks to calculate microstructural MRI parameters related to myelin water in human MS white matter and in a novel myelin basic protein KO mouse model.

VLADIMIR GROUZA

PhD Student

Vlad is a PhD student in the Quantitative Life Sciences Program at McGill. His research
investigates brain microstructure with quantitative ultra high field MRI, computational modeling
and chemical histology. He applies these methods for imaging a mouse model of hypomyelination.

HANDE HALILIBRAHIMOGLU

PhD Student

Hande is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. Her graduate research is focused on the development of a method for 7 T diffusion-weighted magnetic spectroscopic imaging of astrocytes and neuroinflammation in the human cortex.

HANNAH BERNSTEIN

M.Sc. Student

Hannah is an M.Eng. student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. Her graduate research is focused on the development of sensitive methods for 7T MRI mapping of retrograde CSF flow and inflammation in periventricular white matter of MS patients having chronic active inflammation.

GRACE SHI

Undergraduate Student

Grace is an undergraduate student in the McGill Bioengineering Department. Her work in our lab is focused on electron microscopy-based g-ratio mapping of major white matter fiber bundles in a novel myelin basic protein mouse knockout model.

AHMED ELKADY

Postdoctoral Fellow

Ahmed is a MITACS Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurology/Neurosurgery at
McGill. His research focuses on quantitative, myelin-sensitive MRI methods, gradient-echo MRI
techniques for quantitative susceptibility mapping and applications of machine learning to MRI. He applies these methods for multiple sclerosis patient brain imaging.

FOREST LIU

PhD Student

Forest is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. He is applying ultra-high field
functional MRI combined with structural neuroimaging to study network models of brain
connectivity in multiple sclerosis. He also examines the relationship between functional connectivity alterations and cognition in MS patients.

RISA THEVAKUMARAN

PhD Student

Risa is an PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. In her research, she is studying
high-field MRI of cortical demyelination in MS, inhomogeneous magnetization transfer mapping and multi-modal MRI/PET imaging of neuroinflammation in MS.

BASTIEN CABA

PhD Student

Bastien is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. He is studying lesion-level analysis of remyelination and associated neuroprotection in high frequency longitudinal imaging of MS patients treated with monoclonal antibody therapy.

CHRISTIAN SPRANG

M. Eng Student

Christian is an M.Eng. student in Biomedical Engineering at McGill. He is building a flexible 7T MRI coil for imaging of pediatric populations aged 4 – 9. The coil is compatible with real-time field monitoring.

ZHE (TIM) WU

Postdoctoral Fellow

Tim was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab in the McGill Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery. His research focused on ultra-high field MRI microstructure mapping of myelin volume fraction and axon g-ratio. He also applied Wave-CAIPI ViSTa for accelerated human brain MWF mapping.

VIET HOANG

Undergraduate Student

Viet completed an undergraduate computer science and biology thesis project in the lab. He  applied diffusion weighted MRI to study tract-specific white matter pathology in MS. As part of this project, he employed fiber tracking methods for whole-brain structural connectivity mapping. Viet is now a medical student at McGill.

MICHAEL OSHEROV

Clinical Research Fellow

Michael worked as a clinical research fellow in the lab through the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill. He studied the relationship between cortical magnetization transfer ratio and motor impairment in relapsing-remitting and secondary progressive MS.

JOHNNY DER HOVAGIMIAN

M. Eng Student

Johnny completed an M.Eng. degree in Biomedical Engineering in the lab. He developed a 7 T MRI head coil for sensitive imaging of phosphorus (31P) in the human brain. As part of his research, he used electromagnetic field modeling and circuit analysis.

Undergraduate Student

My worked in the lab as an undergraduate student in Physics at McGill. She applied quantitative magnetic susceptibility imaging to study sub-cortical neurodegeneration in patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

MARIUS TUZNIK

Research Assistant

Marius worked in the lab as a research assistant for the Pre-Clinical MRI Unit of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre at McGill University. In that capacity, he guided investigators with pre-clinical high field MRI research development, acquisition and subsequent image analysis.
